NHA Explorations Heads to Harvard Yard!

NANTUCKET: The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is delighted to announce the next in the series of NHA Explorations trips. This one-day excursion to Cambridge, Mass. and Harvard University, will depart from Hyannis, via chartered bus, on Tuesday morning, June 10, at 9:00 A.M.  Nina & Bob Hellman will be our hosts.

Upon arriving in Cambridge, we’ll visit the Harvard Museum of Natural History (the most visited attraction at Harvard), home to the world-renowned Ware Collection of glass flowers, and an additional tour of its “Sea Creatures in Glass.” After a leisurely lunch at the famous Grafton Street Pub & Grill, the group will take an entertaining walking tour—focusing on the history and architecture of Harvard Yard and concluding with a gallery tour of the highlights in the Fogg Art Museum, which opened to the public in 1895.  Harvard’s oldest art museum, the Fogg’s numerous galleries illustrate the history of Western art, from the Middle Ages to the present. Don’t miss this opportunity to visit the Fogg, which will be closing for a five-year renovation at the end of June.

The bus returns to Hyannis in plenty of time to catch the evening boat, fast ferry, or plane. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Hyannis.

The cost is $115.00 for NHA members; $135.00, nonmembers.  Reservations are required. Price is based on a minimum of twenty participants. Please call Julie Kever for additional information, or to register. 508-228-1894, ext. 0.
