NANTUCKET, MA: The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce that the 13th Annual NHA Harvest Fair will take place on Saturday, October 13 from 12:00 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the Old Mill, 50 Prospect Street.
The NHA Harvest Fair will host an array of family-friendly activities and offer a glimpse into the island’s agricultural past. Inside the Old Mill, NHA staff will be on-hand to offer guided tours of the structure and explain its operation. Outside the mill, activities will include a Harvest Fair photo booth, historic games, and seasonal folk music. There will be plenty of arts & crafts projects, including pumpkin decorating, Old Mill pinwheels, and historic harvest photo postcards. Don’t miss a visit with local shepherdess Nicole Dupont’s goats and sheep. Seasonal refreshments and Nantucket Bake Shop corn bread will be served.
“We are delighted to bring the annual NHA Harvest Fair back to the Old Mill this October,” says Melissa Kershaw, Outreach and Public Programs Coordinator at the NHA. “Nantucket is blessed with an amazing environment that yields delicious foods and wonderful products. The NHA celebrates the island’s historic agricultural heritage with all-ages games, crafts, activities, and tours of the Old Mill. I hope everyone will stop by to celebrate the harvest with us!”
The NHA Harvest Fair carries on a Nantucket tradition of celebrating the season and agricultural abundance dating back to the mid-19th century. The first Nantucket Agricultural Society Harvest Fair was held in 1865.
Tickets for the Harvest Fair are $5 per child and free for accompanying adults, and may be purchased on-site. In case of rain, the event will be relocated to the NHA Whaling Museum at 13 Broad Street. For more information, visit the website's Programs page or call 508-228-1894
