NHA Explorations are back! Head to Boston January 19th and visit the new MFA Wing

NANTUCKET MA: The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) will be hosting an NHA Explorations trip to Boston and the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. This one-day excursion will depart from Hyannis via a private coach bus at 9 A.M. Nina and Bob Hellman will be our hosts.

Upon arriving in Boston, the group will head directly to the Museum of Fine Arts for a guided tour of the highlights of its new Art of the Americas Wing. Opened in November, the wing includes fifty-three galleries with more than 5,000 works from the Americas that date from ca. 900 B.C. up to the 1970s. The mission of the new wing is to bring art and people together to the benefit of everyone.

A luncheon – in a private dining room – will follow at Brasserie Jo. Located in the Colonnade Boston Hotel and featuring the menus of world-renowned chef Jean Joho, it is considered the city’s most authentic brasserie, with a 1940s look and the style and traditional cuisine of the classic brasseries throughout France. Lunch will be followed by a one-hour tour and tasting at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery. Guests will hear about patriot Samuel Adams, experience the entire brewing process, learn the history of beer . . . and then drink it!

The coach bus will return to Hyannis in plenty of time to catch the evening boat, fast ferry, or plane. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Hyannis.

Space is limited, so the NHA is offering an early-bird discount special through December 10: $95 for NHA members; $120, nonmembers. After December 10, the cost will be $115 for NHA members; $140, nonmembers. Reservations are required. Price is based on a minimum of twenty participants.
