Diaries and letters describe brief business trips to New York and the southeast states.

Historical Note: Henry C. Platt (1850-1895) was born in Georgia but moved to Nantucket where he worked as a photographer.

FOLDER 1
Diaries, 1867-1872 a) 1867-living in Augusta, Georgia; describes trip to New York b) 1870-used only as an address book c) 1871-living in New York, describes visit to Boston, New Haven and Seymour, CT. Mentions hearing Phoebe (sic) Hannaford preach and praises her prayers highly, Oct. 8, 1871 -1872-living in Augusta, Georgia;describes business trips to Cincinnati, Louisville, Lexington, Chatanooga, Montgomery, Grand Junction (TN), Selma, New Orleans, Paducah, St. Louis, Springfield (IL) and Chicago.

FOLDER 2
Letters from Nantucket, 1894 ALS to Sen. Patrick Walsh sending congratulations on his appointment to the U.S. Senate and remembering him at work on the Chronicle desk in Georgia. Speaks of being remote from the civilized world. April 21, 1894 ALS to Speaker of the House, Charles F. Crisp recalling Rep. Crisp's father's visits to the Platt store in Georgia and saying he knew Crisp's brother in Boston. Speaks of being in a "little out of the world spot in the ocean."
