The Historic House walking tour stops at the Hadwen House.


A guided tour through the interiors of three Nantucket homes focusing on the families that occupied them and their place in Nantucket’s history.  The first stop is the Macy-Christian House, built in 1745.  It demonstrates the “Colonial Revival” style so popular on Nantucket for much of the twentieth century. The tour moves onto the Hadwen House, an elegant 1845 Greek Revival home representing the most prosperous period in Nantucket’s past—the golden years of whaling. The tour concludes at Greater Light, which was originally built as a livestock barn in 1790 and remodeled into a summer home in 1929–1933, this house represents Nantucket’s art colony and resort era.
