October is reserved for recreational scallopers, generally known as family scallopers. Family scallopers are often doubly blessed with glorious summery weather and an island resplendent in the colors of early fall, as they wade and splash and try various methods of pushraking, dipnetting, diving, snorkeling, or simply reaching down and grabbing, hoping to catch their weekly limit of one bushel.
