This journal of a whaling voyage was kept by the captain's wife, Susan C. Austin Veeder. During the voyage they visited Talcahuano, Pitcairn, Sandwich Islands, Arctic, and Tahiti. It includes 16 watercolors of islands seen, her experiences of having a baby in Talcahuano (and its death 14 months later in Tahiti), a visit to Fletcher Christian's house in Pitcairn, a description of being stuck in the ice for 13 days in the Arctic, and the sighting of a polar bear.
