James F. Barker (1871-1950)

James Barker could trace his lineage to eleven of the original settlers. A skilled painter and a talented photographer, he showed his work out of the Eagle’s Wing Studio on Union Street for many years (named after an island steamer, Eagle’s Wing, which had been commanded by Barker’s grandfather). Barker specialized in waterfront, wharf, and beach scenes.
