Grain, Snip & Dry “Autumn Garden,” with Bee Shay

A “must do” class for any Nantucket garden lover. This workshop will cover various techniques including faux graining, microwave flower pressing and drying, and Scherenschnitte. Students will have a variety of beautiful paper vases and basket patterns to choose from which will be filled with dried and pressed real Nantucket blossoms. This is a seasonal workshop, and is being repeated with seasonally available flowers in the fall. Finally, participants will grain their frames to complete their projects.

Bee Shay has been a folk artist and oil painter for almost thirty years, teaching theorem painting, stenciling, and faux finishes nationally since 1991. She has apprenticed under members of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. For nearly ten years she was involved in the Stencil Artisans League, Inc.(SALI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching and furthering traditional American folk art. Currently, Bee is a resident of Nantucket and continues teaching nationally.
