Nantucket Lightship Basket Flower Frog, with Tim Parsons
Tuesday and Wednesday, October 19 and 20: 4 - 7 P.M.
Member $50; Nonmember $75
Baskets were being made by the Wampanoag population when the first settlers arrived on the island in the 1600s. Using available materials, the early baskets were simple, primitive designs.
As the craft evolved over the years, the designs and materials evolved too. This is an opportunity for those who have never made a Nantucket Lightship basket to try something small. And those who have, get to try something new.
The small flower frog is perfect for a single bedside flower or individual place-setting decoration. A kit with all the materials needed is supplied.
Tim Parsons, a longtime Nantucket resident and teacher of basketry, is teaching at the NHA 1800 House for the first time.
