Stitch Sampler Needlepoint Brick, with Patsy Ernst
Mondays, June 15, 22, & 29: 9 A.M.–Noon

This brick design was inspired by Irish sweaters and children’s smocked clothing. It is a wonderful combination of color and texture. Canvas will be available in either 13-count or 18-count canvas: Silk and Ivory thread will be used for the stitching. Students will be able to choose their own colors, so should bring along a sample of their favorite fabric or wallpaper for inspiration. The Needlepoint Book by Ippolitto Christensen, will be used as a reference and copies will be available at an additional cost . No two bricks will be the same. Some needlepoint experience necessary.

PATSY ERNST, a longtime summer resident of Nantucket, has a background in early-elementary education and years of needlepoint experience. Her original designs are inspired by the patterns and textures of old rugs. She has adapted them to the geometry of a brick cover, and her patterns are perfect for using leftover materials.
