Seaside Painted Panel One-Day Workshop, with Bee Shay
Friday, July 17: 9 A.M.–1 P.M.

Students will follow in the footsteps of the itinerant stencilers of the 1800’sand 1900’s and spend the day with hand-cut stencils designed exclusively for the NHA and 1800 House classes. Island landmarks such as the Three Bricks, the Oldest House, clipper ships, whales, the windmill and more from last year’s workshop will be used on the antique door panel. New seaside designs added this year will include a mermaid or a fish for you to choose from. Students will be provided with an antique door panel, already cracked and aged to perfection. No painting experience needed.

BEE SHAY has been a folk artist and oil painter for almost thirty years, teaching theorem painting, stenciling, and faux finishes nationally since 1991. She has apprenticed under members of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. For nearly ten years she was actively involved in Stencil Artisans League, Inc., (SALI) a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching and furthering traditional American folk art. Currently, Bee is a resident of Nantucket and continues teaching nationally
