Think you know Nantucket trivia? Come prove it at the Third Annual NHA History Quiz Bowl on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 6 PM in the Whaling Museum. Once again, award-winning Nantucket author and history guru Nathaniel Philbrick will serve as the evening’s Quizmaster, offering up a variety of questions related to all facets of Nantucket: people, geography, architecture, whaling, public places, and other fun facts. In short, if it deals with Nantucket history, it’s fair game for being a question.

Rumor has it that teams are already studying their Nantucket trivia, so start boning up on your facts and come show the world your skills at the Third Annual Nantucket History Quiz Bowl. A variety of fabulous prizes will be awarded to the top teams, including the much-coveted Clara Trophies presented to the overall winning team’s individual members.

“There can be no question that in just two years, the NHA History Quiz Bowl has become the kind of light-hearted, friendly but competitive event that Nantucketers love. Last year’s Quiz Bowl was a huge community event and attracted a great turn out,” said Melissa Kershaw, NHA Outreach and Public Programs Coordinator. “Everyone enjoyed the contest – even the audience members had a chance to demonstrate their love and knowledge of Nantucket with special questions written just for them. Competing teams had a great time in the green room, where we had surprise perks, like refreshments and a masseuse. We’re planning all sorts of terrific elements for the 2012 History Quiz Bowl, so I’m sure everybody that joins us on March 10 will have a great night.”

This year’s History Quiz Bowl is supported by the generosity of Nancy Newhouse & Ken W. Holdgate, Jr., as well as by the M.S. Worthington Foundation.

Quiz Bowl teams may be composed of one to three members, and entry is $50 per team. Advance registration for participants is required, and applications may be picked up at the NHA Administrative Offices located at 15 Broad Street. All forms and fees are due no later than Thursday, March 1, 2012. For more information, email Melissa Kershaw, , or call her at 508-228-1894, ext. 117.
