History Comes Alive!
FAMILY ADVENTURE AT THE OLDEST HOUSE

NANTUCKET, Mass.:Ever wondered what it was like to live at the Oldest House in the seventeenth century?

Join us for an adventurous hands-on journey into the past during the “Family Adventure at the Oldest House,” 16 Sunset Hill, on Sunday, July 17, 10 A.M.–Noon.

Families with children aged five to twelve will find out what’s growing in the kitchen garden and will taste period foods, such as switchel and herbal infusions. They’ll try their hand at everyday chores, such as making a straw bed and doing laundry on a washboard, and they will play the games and learn about the toys and crafts enjoyed by colonial children.

Admission is $5 per child for NHA members; $10 per child for nonmembers. Accompanying parents, grandparents, and other adult companions are free. The event is hosted by the Nantucket Historical Association and its Family Associates Committee, co-chaired by Wendy Rouillard and Annabelle Fowlkes.
