NANTUCKET, Mass.: The Nantucket Historical Association is now offering extended summer hours at the Historic Sites. The Old Mill, at 50 Prospect Street, and the Oldest House at 16 Sunset Hill; open for tours daily, Noon–5 P.M.; Kitchen Garden at the Oldest House tours are offered Fridays, 11–Noon.
The Old Gaol, at 15R Vestal Street, and Fire Hose-Cart House, at 8 Gardner Street, are open daily, Noon–5 P.M., for self-guided tours. The Quaker Meeting House, at 7 Fair Street, adjacent to the NHA’s Research Library, is also open for self-guided tours, Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 10 A.M.–5 P.M.; Tuesday 11 A.M.– 5 P.M. Closed Wednesdays and weekends.
The Whaling Museum, at 13 Broad Street, is open daily 10 A.M.–5 P.M., and features Nantucket, the NHA’s new film by Ric Burns, shown at 10:15 A.M. and 1 P.M.; and the summer exhibition, Nantucket’s Cabinet of Curiosities:A to Z. Whale Hunt lecture, The Bones of History film, Essex Gam, and special gallery tours are also scheduled daily.
In addition, the Historic Houses Walking Tour of the Hadwen House, Macy-Christian House, and Greater Light is offered daily, 2:15 P.M., and meets at the Hadwen House, 96 Main Street, rain or shine. The Guided Historic Downtown Walking Tour is offered Monday–Saturday, 11:15 A.M., and departs from the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street, rain or shine.
