Food For Thought Features "Art of the 1800 House"
NANTUCKET MA: The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) will present
“The Art of the 1800 House” featuring NHA 1800 House staff coordinators Betsey Braun and Mary Lacoursiere, at the Food for Thought series, on Thursday, April 21, in the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street, at noon. Free admission; bring your lunch.
As part of the NHA’s mission to interpret the history of Nantucket and foster an appreciation of its historic significance, the programs offered in the educational classes at the 1800 House are dedicated to celebrating and reviving Nantucket’s rich traditions in historic decorative arts and crafts.
1800 House program coordinator Betsey Braun and curriculum coordinator Mary Lacoursiere will give a brief overview and describe some of the behind-the-scenes work required to put together an annual curriculum of more than fifty classes featuring centuries-old techniques. Each class is taught by professionals at the top of their fields—artisans from Nantucket and throughout New England.
The Thursday, April 28, Food for Thought will feature an “Artist Gam” with local island artists.
The Thursday talks are free to the public and are given by notable Nantucket residents, on a range of topics. The programs are supported by a grant from the M. S. Worthington Foundation.
